Choosing and Wearing Diamond Watches

With its brilliant style and classy glam, you might find yourself wanting to buy a Las Vegas diamond watch. Such an item does sound like a good investment; however, we understand that as a fashion item, it can be incredibly intimidating. A diamond watch can sometimes look wrong, which causes a lot of people to withdraw from the idea of owning one. Also, people are quick to assume that a diamond watch is flashy and overly embellished. Although that is not entirely true, most people still prefer plain metal watches to avoid the risk of looking iced out. However, a little bit of brilliance in your watch wouldn’t hurt if you know how to wear it right. Here are a few tips to pull off your diamond watch:

Why Diamond Watches?

Diamond watches come in various models, so you just have to find the right one that fits your style. You can look for one that is sporty or classy, chich or classy, and one that is even dressy. No matter what style you choose, you can always find a Las Vegas diamond watch that matches you perfectly. So, if you’ve been indifferent or skeptical about diamond watches before, go ahead and take a second look, and you might just find the right one for you.

Wearing Diamond Watches

Just like shoes and clothes, you must get a diamond watch that fits you perfectly. A watch that is too tight can make you uncomfortable and make you take it off in the middle of the day. Wear it too loose and you risk looking sloppy. Plus, if your watch is loose, it will end up spinning around your arm and become prone to knocks, stretching, scratching, and bumping. If you need to get the perfect fit and don’t know your size, you can bring your watch back to where you bought it and have it resized.

As for wearing your watch, the most common knowledge is the wear it on your wrist. However, this isn’t exactly what you should do, especially with diamond watches. You should wear your diamond watch on the lower part of your forearm, which is adjacent to your wrist. Whether you wear a leather strapped watch or one made with metal, wearing it on your actual wrist can be uncomfortable. The bone that protrudes on the pinkie side of your wrist is bound to hurt if a heavy diamond watch is sitting on it for long periods of time. That said, when you’re buying a diamond watch, remember to choose one that fits the lower part of your forearm.

Keeping Diamond Rings Sparkling

As the hardest natural substance on Earth, it is no surprise that diamonds can cut through virtually any rock or metal. It is one of the toughest minerals you will find today. No other element can cut a diamond except another diamond, yet the simplest oils from human touch can damage its physical appeal. A single touch can cause dirt o to collect on your Las Vegas diamond rings, causing them to lose their sparkle. To avoid destroying the physical appearance of your diamond rings, try to take note of the point below.

Regular Cleaning

It is natural for diamond rings to become grease magnets, so it’s easy to unintentionally make them grimy. To address this, you can clean them regularly using a simple solution you can make with ordinary household items, such as water and a few drops of mild dish soap. You can soak your diamond rings in this solution once or twice a week. Doing so will keep grease at bay. You can also use a clean, soft-bristled toothbrush to brush off first that has collected in the hard-to-reach areas on your ring.

Ultrasonic Cleaners

Sometimes, diamond rings get encrusted with dirt, especially when they’ve been sitting for a while. When your diamond rings reach this point of dirt, ultrasonic cleaners can do the trick. It sends low-frequency sound waves through a liquid solution, resulting in vibrations through the liquid, which can remove accumulated dirt. The vibrations can also slough off grime without damaging the metal band and the diamond itself. However, if done improperly, ultrasonic waves can shake off stones from their setting, which may result in broken diamond rings. That said, it is important to proceed with caution or avoid ultrasonic cleaners completely if your diamond rings have already been treated by fracture filling.

Handle With Care

Older diamond rings will most likely have fragile settings and traditional prongs. Such rings should be handled with care, especially if yours is a tension ring where the center diamond is held in place by just the pressure from the ring’s shank. If your diamond rings are a little loose and shaky, you should not scrub them vigorously, even if you’re using a soft-bristle toothbrush or cloth. Cary your hands well when you’re working with fragile diamond rings. Also, remember to close the drain if you’re working over the sink so you don’t end up losing your rings if you drop them.

Diamond Contact Lenses

From colorful bracelets and watches that you can wear around your finger, down to fake tattoos that definitely look real, accessorizing has really come a long way. Las Vegas diamond jewelry has now gotten more glamorous, and even dainty pieces have become glitzy enough to wear during red carpet events. But do you know that you can also wear diamonds to your eyes? That’s right. Now, you can get your hands on a pair of diamond contact lenses for a cool cost of $15,000.

Each pair of these gold-plated, custom-made contact lenses feature 18 tiny diamonds, but incredibly brilliant, diamonds. This fresh and alluring jewelry line is the product of Shekhar Eye Research. Their team created this new trend to satisfy those who cannot be content with simply boasting diamonds and bling on their skin.

The creator, Chandrashekhar Chawan, tried to create gold-dusted contact lenses, but they didn’t give him that specific sparkle effect he wanted. He then found inspiration from cosmetic dentistry. His wife actually has diamonds plated on her teeth, which helped him realize that people loved to adorn their bodies with jewels.

Chawan claims that his creation will soon be a hit, but some people disagree. Certain critics on the internet said diamond contact lenses are cringy and freakishly ugly. Some even said it looked demonic. However, there are some people who say it’s not so far from eye tattoos that color out the white parts of our eyes - a trend that eventually caught on. Christian Dior also had designer lenses, and it was definitely a hit. This only shows that certain people are willing to spend to stand out.

Chawan’s diamond creation uses the Chandra Boston Scleral lenses, which doctors generally used in treating eye illnesses. He uses these lenses to gold the diamonds and jewelry parts of the lenses in such a way that they don’t touch the corneas. He established that the method is safe, but of course, some experts are quick to warn against the use of medical lenses for aesthetics. But Chawan sees no harm in the products and would like to remind people that his sparkly lenses are a luxury pair. They are not a necessity but are definitely for people who want to be unique and want to show off.

Gold-Filled VS Gold-Plated

Most novices to gold jewelry often fall victim to gold-plated pieces that come with price tags that should be for solid gold pieces only. Gold-plated jewelry is usually made mostly with a mix of non-precious metals like brass and copper. Jewelers electroplate them with a thin layer of real gold. Nonetheless, even if they contain less expensive metals, Las Vegas gold-plated jewelry is still worth your time and money. Here, you will definitely find pieces that allow you to enjoy the aesthetics of gold without having to break your wallet. Just make sure that you avoid unfairly priced ones to help you make the most of it. Let’s go over some of the differences between the two to help you decide which one to get for your next piece:

Content

The layer of gold found in gold-plated jewelry is quite minuscule. Meanwhile, gold-filled jewelry contains thick layers of gold, which helps it last longer, making up much of what you pay for.

Durability

Gold-plated jewelry gets a bad rep for being flimsy since most of them are not very durable. Some of them can’t even withstand wear and tear, heat, and water. Meanwhile, gold-filled jewelry can last a lifetime if well taken care of. However, this does not mean that all gold-plated jewelry is 100% not worth your bucks. If you choose one that is well-made and comes from a good brand, you might find yourself surprised by its durability and craftsmanship. In fact, you can now find certain jewelry brands that specialize in gold-plated jewelry. They dedicate their brand to those who want to wear the brilliance of gold without hurting the planet’s natural gold deposits.

Tarnish

The layer of gold on gold-plated jewelry is usually thin, which can fade away quickly. Once the core metal is exposed to air, tarnishing becomes inevitable. Meanwhile, it would take special circumstances for gold-filled jewelry to tarnish, and it would only happen over time.

Uses

For longevity and reliable durability, gold-filled jewelry is, of course, the best choice. It is the perfect gift for anniversaries, birthdays, and other special occasions. On the other hand, gold-plated jewelry is best for trying out trends. This way, you can take part in wearing trendy pieces without having to invest much of your money in them. This is one way of protecting yourself from wasting money on pieces that are only appreciated during a short period of time.  Either way, both gold-filled and gold-plated jewelry can hold sentimental value, depending on its owner.

Why is Turquoise Jewelry Becoming More Expensive

Turquoise jewelry in Las Vegas is worth all the hype. It is distinguished by its radiant blue-green color, although some have different hues from sky blue to yellow-green. Some stones will even have beautiful streaks of gold, gray, or even both. It is significant in many cultures and has been recorded in books, told in oral traditions, discovered in tombs, used in ceremonies, and is deemed sacred.

Turquoise jewelry has been worn by various cultures all throughout history. They were made into bracelets, earrings, necklaces, and even hair accessories. Native Americans use turquoise for various reasons, including wearing them as jewelry. Turquoise is carved and shaped into various styles of jewelry, such as fetishes for the Zuni, squash blossom for the Navajo, and much more.

High-quality turquoise is mined in 20 mines located all over the American Southwest, and the majority of them are in Nevada. However, mines are also throughout Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico. And the oldest turquoise mine in the United States is the Cerrillos mine in New Mexico.

Presently, there is only five percent of mined turquoise worldwide, with attributes that can be cut and sent into jewelry. Due to over mining, a lot of Southwest mines are now closed. The government also imposed restrictions, which caused higher costs of mining. And today, the majority of the turquoise retrieved is just a byproduct of copper mining.

Now, 75% of turquoise used in jewelry is imported from China. However, the turquoise from China has been processed and filled with epoxy to stabilize or intensify its color and luster. Therefore, importing turquoise is a major factor in the increasing cost of making turquoise jewelry.

Hunting for Junk Silver

Selling valuable coins might be one of the fastest ways to earn some cash today. Depending on your enthusiasm, hunting for coin rolls can actually be like a treasure hunt. However, it is a lot simpler than looking for lost treasure chests, especially since you can find coins in banks easily. Once you acquire some coin rolls, you can just go through them and keep the valuable ones for yourself then deposit the rest back to the bank. What you do with the valuable coins is totally up to you; you can either keep them as part of your collection or sell them to interested reputable buyers who are willing to pay you an adequate amount for your coins. Nonetheless, we cannot deny the fact that learning how to hunt for coin rolls is a life skill that might sound useless at first but is actually handy during a time of need. Read on if you want to learn more about hunting for coin rolls.

Getting Started

It’s easy to just go straight to a bank and get your coin rolls. However, it is important to know first what banks you should go to so you do not waste precious time and energy. You should also go to more than one bank since you are hunting, so you don’t end up empty-handed when you’re done. Decide your “pick-up banks” and one “dump bank.” Your pick-up banks, for example, are places where you can order your coins. Then, once you’re done going through the coins, deposit the less valuable ones into your dump bank. The general rule is that you should not deposit your coins back to your pick-up bank and always aim to separate them. Pro tip: try to choose a dump bank that accepts loose change deposits and has its automatic coin machine.

Combing Through Coin Rolls

Avoid marked coins.

Contrary to popular belief, marked coins are actually not valuable. These are just marks made by other collectors or hunters to identify that they have gone through those particular coins already. This practice is often frowned upon and remains quite controversial up to this day. Meanwhile, stamping coins is legal in the United States under the 18 USC Section 331 and would only be illegal when committed for coin fraud.

Take your chance with customer-wrapped coin rolls.

These rolls usually give more silver coins and copper pennies than others. You can simply ask your bank teller for customer-wrapped coin rolls if they have some on hand. Actually, you can even ask the teller if they have the specific coins you are looking for, like half-dollars, for example. You simply need to know what you want and request for it. You can also do a little bit of research on the banks near you. Junk silver coins in Las Vegas are quite easy to find, so make sure you also give that a try.

Keep records of your progress.

Exerting a little effort for something that you are not sure of can be a little tiring and takes a lot of emotional investment. To avoid repeating mistakes and unnecessary trips to the bank “for hunting”, make sure you tally up the total of your finds to help you keep track of things. You can also take photos of your collection so maintaining a record becomes easier.

Silver Platter Chalkboards

Silver platters are one of those items that most households possess. It might seem like a boring item that can only be used for serving other items, but if you do a little bit of research, you’d be surprised that it can be turned into a lot of cool things, depending on the trends in your area. Like any other trays, silver platters in Las Vegas tend to be sold for extra cash, handed down to later generations, or be refurbished and used as home decor. If your family is stacked up on silver platters, you might want to sell some of them, but make sure to leave one with you so you can try this DIY silver platter chalkboard. It’s a unique item that you can use on many occasions and make any event extra special. If you’re hardcore into hosting, read on to learn how you can turn a plain ‘ol silver platter into an impressive ice-breaker piece.

The Decision

Not all silver platters are created equally. You might want to check the value of your silver platter first before turning it into something that might lower its monetary value. If you’re underage, ask your parents first if it’s okay to turn that silver platter into a chalkboard. However, if you are a full-grown adult who wouldn’t mind losing the value of your platter, prepare the stuff you will need.

What You Need

  • Sandpaper
  • Chalkboard paint
  • Soft chalk

Paint the Surface

Once you’ve sanded your platter’s surface, carefully apply your chalkboard paint. Make sure to use good quality chalkboard paint so you don’t get tiny bumps and patches on your final product. You can use a small foam brush to outline the tray’s actual surface (where you think the paint should go). Then, proceed to fill in the center. Give your platter about 3-4 coats of chalkboard paint. Afterward, let your platter sit for at least 24 hours to make sure the chalkboard paint is completely dry.

Season Your Platter

Rub the chalkboard area of your silver platter with soft chalk, then lightly wipe it off using a dry cloth. This will give your final product more character.
